Being Busy is profitable! Lol.

I have been super busy…and I mean really, Really, REALLY busy…

Because in addition to all of the blogs that I own, I am also a Traci Lynn Jewelry, Avon, and Jamberry Nails Independent Representative.

~phew~

But all of my hard work is starting to pay off as I already have a few sales!

Woot! Woot!

I even have a person in my downline on Jamberry Nails.

I must admit, though, that with the sole exception of  TheGoodBuy.net, I have been completely neglecting my blogs.

(Wait! I take that back. I have done a few posts on MoneyTrina.com)

And the lack of profit in that is evident in that as well.

So, I have gotten myself organized using the calendar feature on my Blackberry Playbook.

This thing is a Godsend!!

Ok, I’m off back to work.

On today’s schedule is….not this blog….Lol.

…but I don’t hate the savings!

I think I hate couponing…

Making sure that I get a paper every Sunday (or shelling out the bucks for a subscription!)…

Feeling the need to actually read the newspaper because I paid for it…

Checking out the sales ads to see what is on sale that I already have a coupon for…

NEW YORK, NY - JANUARY 28: A man holds shoppi...

Cutting out all of the coupons…

Then organizing said coupons by category making sure to put the ones that are gonna expire soonest in the front…

Going online to read matchups (and not finding anything that I want!)…

Printing out coupons of products that I would actually use….

Cutting said printed out coupons…

Either lugging my whole coupon binder to the stor…

or

Organizing the coupons that I will use that day….

Forcing myself to pretty much only shop via coupons (meat, milk, and fruit/veggies being the only exceptions!)…

Realizing that this store does not sell the product that I so painstackingly cut a coupon for…

or

Even with a coupon, it is not worth the price….

Having to stand in the customer service line to get a raincheck on products that have been sold out…

So, what do I not hate about couponing?

The savings!

I was sold when my friend saved 49% of her grocery bill a couple of weeks ago.

And even with my haphazard method, I saved 14%.

Now that I have gotten a bit more organized, I waltzed out with a 39% savings.

Not bad, eh!

So, I shall coupon on….

Will you?

Blackberry Playbook: Day 1 – 4

Playbooks went on sale this week and I swooped one up on Thursday from the Sprint store in MacArthur Mall.

Actually, I ended up buying two of them.

Want to hear that story for first?

You do…

Ok, here’s what happened.

I was browsing Amazon for a cheap yet reliable tablet and I had almost decided Amazon Kindle Fire
when lo and behold…the BlackBerry Playbook was on sale for the exact same amount.

Which to get ….

Which to get…

Research….

Research….

Research….

Ok, that was no help.

But, ya know what, the Kindle Fire is and will always be $199 but this Playbook is on sale.

Decision clinched….add to cart….and purchased.

But, wait, you say, that is only one Blackberry Playbook…I thought you said that bought two.

Hold ya horses….I’m getting to that!

Did you fail to see where I said that I got mine from the Sprint Store?!?!

So, yeah, I went downtown with a friend to handle some business.

She had to pay her Sprint bill so I met back up with her in the store.

And I allowed her to talk me into relieving my need for instant gratification by buying a Playbook then and there.

(I actually considered the Samsung Galaxy tablet too but Sprint forces you to get a contract on that one…so nope!)

First, however, we took advantage of the Apple store to cancel my order on Amazon.

And this is where it gets interesting.

Because when I got home, I not only had an email from Amazon saying that they could not cancel my order but that my BB Playbook has already been shipped.

Mind you, I went for the Super Saver Shipping which is free, and thus, the very bottom of the shipping barrell.

Frankly, I think that it got shipped faster because I cancelled it! Lol.

No worries, though….as I could always refuse delivery and gets my ends back, right?

Wrong!

Because when Baby Girl found out that another one was coming, she immediately put her dibs in…

She even went so far as to bargain way the laptop that she has been begging to get for months!

And heck….I’m no fool.

$200 for a Playbook or at least 4 large for a decent laptop…

You do the math! Lol.

Anyway, I thought that I would chronicle my journey with it thus far.

So, here is the Playbook Chronicles Days 1 – 4.

Day 1:

I’m in love!

The Playbook has a nice weight to it…it feels nice and substantial. Like it could take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

It is also small enough to slide right into my slim cross body purse so I can take it everywhere with no problem.

It took me a minute to get use to all of the sliding this way and that to move from screen to screen but within an hour or so, I was an expert! lol.

I watched Youtube videos and movies on a site that shall not be named but, yeah, it is shady…but free! lol. I tried to watch Hulu but, as usual, not supported. Frankly, Hulu, that is getting embarrassing. And you want me to pay for Hulu Plus? Yeah, right….

I tried to pick up the wifi on a friend’s phone but it could not find it…Boo! Then I realized that I hadn’t activated the program. Lol. Hopefully, that was the only problem and BB did not make a Apple mistake of only allowing me to use a BB phone to use Wifi. That would suck royally.

Day 2:

Realized that there is no Kindle App…yet…bummed….Hopefully soon since BB is opening itself up to the Android market.

I found this cool cover/keyboard that I really, Really, REALLY want but I am saving up for a car.

The only thing missing is a place to put a stylus.

Day 3:

Found out that I could use the Amazon Kindle Cloud to read books. I can also pin to books to take with me on the go. Not quite as nice as a real Kindle App but it is servicable. The Cloud is slow to load and clunky to operate but the actually reading part is great.

I also played the car game. The graphics are beautifully clear. And it was FREE! Take that iPad!

What I do not like is that there are no gmail or yahoo apps.

Instead, clicking the icon will take you to the browser.

Duh, I could have gone to the browser by myself! Lol.

Running Yahoo seems to be fine but the new gmail seems to be clunky.

Not sure if this is a problem common to all tablets but I do not have this problem on my iPod Touch.

Day 4:

Took my Playbook over a friend’s house today and her kids fell in love with the racey car game.

She is considering getting one for her toddler to keep him happy in the car but I advised it might be better to get him a Sony PSP.

No Sparkle Shellac Shocked

I volunteered to be the guinea pig for the manicure process called Shellac.

First of all, I had a heck of a time finding a place that does shallac nails.

All in all, I found two places within walking distance that do shellac manicures (I am, unfortunately, sans personal transportation right now.)

Although I really wanted to go to the spa, I let my wallet do the talking and went to the place that was $10 cheaper.

Ok, all of this happened on Sunday, so my photo is actually several days old…

Just like with acrylics, I can already see where my nails are growing.

In the end though, I think that I am too shallow for the current shellac methods.

If I am paying $35 a pop, I want my nails to have some fancy designs, glitters, and pop!

This one color is just not gonna do.

That’s why my friend nicknamed me Sparkle after all…Lol.

Shit Natural Girls Say!

I was linked to these videos on a forum and I thought they were hilarious…plus, well, guilty as charged!!!

The acting was better in the first one but this one goes more in depth…

So I went to a couponing class last night…

One of the things that I have been procrastinating on learning to do is couponing.

Until last night, the closest that I have ever gotten was to watch Extreme Couponing online.

Oh, I have done the usual diddy of clipping the coupons and going to the store with out them.

But this year is different.

This year, I have a son who is turning 17 in a few more days.

And you know what that means…

It means that I am only responsible for molding him for one more measly year.

(Where did the time go?)

One of my goals as a parent was to teach my kids how to handle money.

Just last month, I opened up bank accounts for the two oldest and they have learned just from that experience. (Me too, for that matter.)

That taught them how to spend money…now it is time for them us to learn how to save money.

And so, last night, I went to a couponing class given by Lori Clayton of The Coupon Consultant and sponsored by The Virginia-Pilot.

I actually learned a lot that will help me with saving money with coupons as well a few tips that will help me with my  blogging endeavors.

There was a Wendy Williams movie?!?!

For once I had a few minutes to read the newspaper.

As I did so, I came across an article in the Parade Magazine that said that there was a Wendy Williams movie.

Color me surprised.

English: Wendy Williams in June 2005

And intrigued.

And further than that, the movie had already been shot.

And starred Robin Givens.

The movie was titled Queen of All Media andactully wrapped in August 2009.

Parties involved agreed that it needed a different ending when Wendy got her talk show.

But I know somebody out there has a boot leg copy.

I promise I won’t tell if you let me sneak a pink.

I swear on my Wonder Woman mug!

From PSAT to SAT and all in the 7th Grade!

Just  so you know, this is going to be one of those pimping proud mama posts.

My Baby Girl is super, duper smart.

And I can prove it!

You see, she took the PSAT about six weeks into her 7th grade year and scored a respectable 36 in Mathematics and Writing Skills respectively.

I say respectively because these scores are versus 11th grade juniors who took the scholastic aptitude test.

Kids that are about the age of her oldest brother who is 4 years older than her and, thus, have four years more schooling.

But the score that blew us out of the water was her Critical Reading score of 51.

This put her in the 73rd percentile and means that only 27% of Juniors cored equal or greater than she did.

Not bad for a kid in the 7th grade!

And because her scores are so high, she is the only 7th grader taking the SAT this January.

I am so proud of her and excited for her.

But I am not putting any pressure on her to do well on the SAT.

After all, it will just be another practice session for her so that she will get a high score on the  when she, herself, takes the test as a Junior in high school.

By the way, my theory on why she got such high scores is because she loves to read.

In fact, she is reading right now…

I kinda forgot today was an early release day. Lol.

The Office: Andy or Michael?

I am officially throwing my hat in the ring on the Andy vs Michael debate on The Office.

Ed Helms at The Office Paley Fest

And I am officially a fan of Andy.

Andy has all of the charm of Michael without much of the naricissism.

In other words, he is a boss (if I ever have another boss) for who I can work.

Andy wants all of his employees to succeed and not just as a reflection of himself…but for themselves.

A plus for any boss in any office.

Which do you prefer: Andy or Michael?
